The Kid Stakes

THE KID STAKES is a 1927 silent film based on the popular Fatty Finn comic strips of the day. Directed by Tal Ordel, it features the director’s son in the lead role of Fatty Finn. Set in the back streets of Woolloomooloo and the mansions of Potts Point, it follows a gang of kids in their adventures to compete in a billy cart race (harnessed to a billy goat). The film was popular on original release and remains well regarded today.
